Mila Kunis Refused To Pose Half-Naked To Promote A Film, Calls Out Sexist Producer

The producer said "You'll never work in this town again" when she refused.

The letter was published on A Plus, a media website that was co-founded by her husband, Ashton Kutcher.

She starts off the letter by addressing the fact that this producer โ€œspoke aloud the exact fear every woman feels when confronted with gender bias in the workplace.โ€

Echoing this fear that saying โ€˜noโ€™ will hurt a womanโ€™s career that occurs in many areas, such as Australian medical schools, Mila Kunis condemns the producerโ€™s support of women sacrificing their integrity for money.

She told the story of being referred to as โ€˜soon to be Ashtonโ€™s wife and baby mommaโ€™ when a male producer was pitching one of her shows to a major network. After feeling belittled and like her value was diminished, she withdrew her involvement in the project. She argues that itโ€™s time to stop putting up with even the small stuff if women are going to achieve true equality.

โ€œIโ€™m done compromising; even more so, Iโ€™m done with being compromised. So from this point forward, when I am confronted with one of these comments, subtle or overt, I will address them head on; I will stop in the moment and do my best to educate. I cannot guarantee that my objections will be taken to heart, but at least now I am part of creating an environment where there is the opportunity for growth. And if my comments fall on deaf ears, I will choose to walk away.โ€

She also sees that if this is happening to her โ€“ an influential woman at the top of her industry โ€“ then it is surely happening to other women. So she finished the letter with this powerful statement.
