New details have emerged about the final musings of INXS frontman Michael Hutchence, 20 years on from his tragic death.
Hutchence was found dead in his suite in the Ritz Carlton in Double Bay, on November 22, 1997.
A new two-part documentary from 7 News about the music icon has uncovered the final lyrics Hutchence wrote in his hotel room the night he died.
The lyrics were written on a yellow notepad next to his bed in room 524, Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar reveals.
Hutchence’s friend, Nick Egan, described the lyrics as “almost a suicide note,” 7 News reports.
Hutchence’s lyrics read:
“Wouldn’t be right to take it
Wouldn’t be right laying down
Sick of the dogs outside my window
That’s right take a look
New plan with a hook
Stuck into me
All the bitterness
Has started showing
Five years no one hears”
Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar gives an intimate look at Hutchence’s private life, with footage from the rockstar’s home movies, diaries and photo albums. It also features unseen footage of Hutchence’s daughter Tiger-Lily, who is now 21-years-old.
“We sourced material from four continents and five countries,” executive producer Mark Llewellyn told Fairfax.
“It’s been over a year in the making and we have some great talent on the show, from Bono and Simon Le Bon to Tina Hutchence … they co-operated, so did the trustee of Michael’s estate, Colin Diamond … they wanted us to focus on Michael’s life, to celebrate what he achieved.”
Michael Hutchence – The Last Rockstar airs on Monday 16 and Tuesday 17 October at 7.30pm on Channel 7.
