A New Meghan Markle Documentary Is Set To Air Next Month

The hour-long special will investigate the "rapid rise and unravelling" of the royal

Now, a forthcoming documentary will investigate the role in which the monarchy and media circuit played in sparking the couple’s surprise departure from Kensington Palace.

The first in a series of documentaries by Vice Television titled Vice VersaMeghan Markle: Escaping The Crown will take a deep dive into the “rapid rise and unravelling of the Duchess of Sussex” with a focus upon “issues of race, prejudice and obsession”.

Exclusive interviews with insiders including Harry and William’s former butler, royal correspondents and American wives of the British aristocracy will offer up answers into the couple’s struggle to break free from the Windsor clan.

The newly-dropped trailer opens with a happy montage from Harry and Meghan’s May 19 nuptials, as they can be seen waving at flag-bearing fans outside of St George’s Chapel in Windsor, England.

It was a groundbreaking moment for the regal institution as one commentator states, “Harry and Meghan were really driving the monarchy forward into the 21st century.”

But soon the cheers die down, as a voiceover breaks through: “This was never going to be a fairy tale.”

Giving up the freedom of speech, emotion and opinion in the name of the crown – the documentary will investigate the “devastating” way in which Meghan has been treated by the public and media since marrying into the royal family.

“Our flagship documentary series Vice Versa will serve as a hub for compelling storytelling that shakes the status quo and awakens viewers to new ideas. We take differing points of view of well-known stories and topics,” Morgan Hertzan, EVP and general manager of Vice Television, announced.

Meghan Markle: Escaping The Crown is a prime example of a point of view you won’t hear elsewhere – we’re tackling this subject in a confrontational way to say what’s really happening.”
