Meghan Markle and Prince Harry marked International Women’s Day by witnessing the work of key groups in Birmingham, but not before Ms Markle’s actions during the preceding street parade went viral.
While the royal couple greeted fans waving British flags, 10-year-old Sophia Richards caught Prince Harry’s attention and told him she wanted to be an actress. To everyone’s surprise, Prince Harry pulled her out of the crowd and took her straight to meet his fiancée.
After chatting with Sophia and shaking her hand, Markle gave the school girl a warm hug – a gesture that isn’t generally approved of in the royal family, and one that Princess Diana is remembered for. Watch below:
“Meghan told me that I can achieve whatever I want to achieve,” Sophia told reporters. “And Meghan said she would like to see me on TV when I become an actress.”
“It was a dream come true,” she added. “I will never forget this day.”
Markle wore a navy and white J.Crew coat for the occasion, teamed with black cigarette pants, AllSaints white knit, Manolo Blahnik black pumps and an Altuzarra saddle bag.
