The New York Times reports that the Sussexes are headed for Hollywood with their (currently unnamed) production company, signing a multi-year deal with the streaming giant.

The deal is said to involve the making of documentaries, docu-series, feature films, scripted shows and children’s programming.

“Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope,” the couple said in a statement.

“As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us.”

They added that Netflix’s “unprecedented reach will help us share impactful content that unlocks action.”

“We’re incredibly proud they have chosen Netflix as their creative home and are excited about telling stories with them that can help build resilience and increase understanding for audiences everywhere,” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s co-chief executive and chief content officer, has reportedly stated.

Markle has collaborated with Disney and Apple on projects already, and earlier this year it was reported to Variety that the couple met with NCUniversal.

The new deal follows in the footsteps of Barack and Michelle Obama who also signed a similar deal with Netflix back in 2018. The film American Factory, which they produced, won an Oscar for Best Documentary.

While the duchess has previously insisted that she has no plans to further pursue her acting career during her 2017 engagement interview, we could potentially see her in front of the camera again, in another capacity.

Recently she expressed that she wanted to “use [her] voice in a way that [she] hasn’t been able to as of late”.
