When Meghan Markle got engaged to Prince Harry in 2017, she decided to leave her Instagram account and lifestyle blog, The Tig, behind – instead deciding to focus on royal work. But, as we know, nothing on the Internet is never truly gone and royal sleuths uncover old Meghan posts almost weekly.

In one particularly candid vintage Meghan blog post recently shared by Express, the Duchess of Sussex opened up her “brutal” 20s and “even worse” teens.
The British publication reports that Meghan wrote: “My 20s were brutal—a constant battle with myself, judging my weight, my style, my desire to be as cool/ as hip/ as smart/ as ‘whatever’ as everyone else. My teens were even worse—grappling with how to fit in, and what that even meant. My high school had cliques: the black girls and white girls, the Filipino and Latina girls. Being biracial, I fell somewhere in between. Every day during lunch, I busied myself with meetings—French club, student body, whatever one could possibly do between noon and 1pm—I was there. Not so that I was more involved, but so that I wouldn’t have to eat alone.”
It’s not just her childhood Meghan used to write about. Just last week a list of the 38-year-old’s favourite summer activities, including her British-inspired cocktail recipe and her music of choice, were surfaced in a vintage post. In a blog post in 2014 – just two years before she was introduced to Harry – Meghan wrote that she loves spending time in the sun with her friends having picnics and drinking cocktails.
“Sun kissed afternoons, cocktail in hand, surrounded by nothing but the laughter of your closest mates, an Otis Redding playlist, and the whistling breeze of the wind. I’m talking about perfection, people,” she wrote at the time. “The perfection that comes with summertime. Picnics and barbecues, laying out by the pool with friends, and toasting to the season are high on my list.”
“And while I generally opt to whet my whistle with a glass of rosé or crisp Sauvignon Blanc, sometimes the day calls for a cocktail,” she wrote. “Cue The TIG Cup. Having a love of all things Brit, I wanted to do a twist on their signature Pimm’s Cup,” she continued. “Using cues from the season, with fresh and vibrant farmers’ market ingredients, this drink will whet your whistle and keep you cool during those long summer days turned nights. This is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, and a nod to the fresh-picked flavours of the season.”
