Set to make one of her first public appearances since leaving the Royal family, Meghan Markle has been confirmed as a featured speaker at the 2020 virtual Girl Up Global Leadership Summit, taking place between July 13 to 15.
The Duchess of Sussex joins an impressive list of speakers including former First Lady Michelle Obama, COO of Facebook Sheryl Sandberg, and longtime friend Priyanka Chopra, who has been hailed as a ‘changemaker’, alongside The Good Place’s Jameela Jamil.
Taking to their Twitter, Girl Up announced the Duchess’ official appearance, saying:
“The present is female! But don’t take our word for it. Hear Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex’s advice for global girls leaders when she takes the stage at the 2020 @GirlUp Leadership Summit, happening virtually July 13-15!”
Founded in 2010, the United Nations derived organisation is a leadership initiative that has worked with 65,000 girls through 3,500 clubs in almost 120 countries around the world. Their mission is to inspire a young generation of women to advocate for gender equality and social change.
Markle’s news comes soon after the Duke and Duchess announced that they’ve signed onto to the same speaking engagement firm that represents the likes of Barack and Michelle Obama and Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Since their move to Los Angeles, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have also continued their charity work while they work on their new foundation Archewell, behind the scenes.
