When you think of inspirational women, Meghan Markle and Julia Gillard would probably make the list. So to find out those two exact women will be speaking together on Friday just about blew our minds.
Kensington Palace has released news that Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, will be hosting a panel discussion this Friday — International Women’s Day — which includes former Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard. Yes, two of our favourite feminists are about to talk about, well, feminism live on stage!
According to a statement from the Palace, the Duchess and her guests will cover a range of topics, including female empowerment.
“Her Royal Highness will join the panel to discuss the importance of International Women’s Day, and the spotlight it can bring to obstacles which still affect female empowerment across the world, including access to education and limitations within employment,” it reads.
“The discussion will also cover the positive opportunities that come when women are given wider access and equal opportunity, whether that be in the UK or elsewhere in the world.”
The duo will also be joined by guests including model and activist Adwoa Aboah, as well as musician Annie Lennox. It will be hosted at King’s College in London in front of an intimate audience.
We’re sure Gillard and Markle will have a lot to discuss, including gender inequality throughout the world and how to better empower young women, but we’re mostly looking forward to seeing two of our favourite female leaders together in the same room — and we’re tipping these two to get along as thick as thieves.
