First her estranged half-sister accused her of abandoning their father, now Meghan Markle’s half-brother is complaining about her to the tabloids: he’s gone on record to say the almost-princess pretended not to know him.
Thomas Markle Jr, 51, who has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, told In Touch magazine that he received “a slap in the face” when he asked Meghan for help with the media’s new interest in him, news.com.au reports.
He wrote Meghan a letter after her engagement was announced, but never received a reply, prompting him to ask his lawyer to get in touch with Meghan’s legal team.
‘My lawyer had a phone meeting with her lawyer, and he emailed me some of her direct words,” Markle recounted to In Touch. “She said, ‘That’s distant family and I don’t know those people.’ That’s pretty harsh.”
Markle says he and his sister were “as close as we could be, as tight as we could be,” when they were younger, before Meghan moved to Toronto in 2011 to film Suits. He recently admitted to the Daily Mail that he has not seen or spoken with her since then.
Meghan’s mother and Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, divorced when she was six years old.
