The last several weeks, Meghan Markle has continued to speak out about the importance of voting. Sheโs condemned voter suppression in the United States in a video message via the 19th Conference and even teamed up with Michelle Obama to share why sheโll be voting in November.
Now, the Duchess of Sussex has joined forces with activist and feminist icon Gloria Steinem in a clip on the MAKERS Women Instagram account for a casual, backyard conversation.
In a preview of the upcoming conversation, with the full episode dropping on August 27, the two women discuss why itโs critical young people vote this year. โPeople forget how hard women like you and so many others before you fought for us to just be where we are right now,โ Meghan tells Steinem.
โIf you donโt vote you donโt exist,โ Steinem responds.

Steinem also opened up about her fears of young people being the least likely to cast their ballots in the upcoming US election.
โWhat worries me the most are young people, who I understand are the least likely to vote, and I can understand the feeling that they donโt think they have an impact, and yet itโs more important for them to vote than anyone else because theyโre going to be alive long after I am, and theyโre going to be suffering the consequences,โ she says.
But, she tells Markle she remains โhopeful.โ
โToday is a great day,โ she says.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussexโs two dogs โ Guy and Pula โ even crashed the video, with Steinem saying โthey want to be on camera.โ
