Meghan Markle And Gloria Steinem Team Up To Talk About Voting

And, her two dogs crash the video

The last several weeks, Meghan Markle has continued to speak out about the importance of voting. She’s condemned voter suppression in the United States in a video message via the 19th Conference and even teamed up with Michelle Obama to share why she’ll be voting in November.

Now, the Duchess of Sussex has joined forces with activist and feminist icon Gloria Steinem in a clip on the MAKERS Women Instagram account for a casual, backyard conversation.

In a preview of the upcoming conversation, with the full episode dropping on August 27, the two women discuss why it’s critical young people vote this year. “People forget how hard women like you and so many others before you fought for us to just be where we are right now,” Meghan tells Steinem.

“If you don’t vote you don’t exist,” Steinem responds.

Steinem also opened up about her fears of young people being the least likely to cast their ballots in the upcoming US election.

“What worries me the most are young people, who I understand are the least likely to vote, and I can understand the feeling that they don’t think they have an impact, and yet it’s more important for them to vote than anyone else because they’re going to be alive long after I am, and they’re going to be suffering the consequences,” she says.

But, she tells Markle she remains “hopeful.”

“Today is a great day,” she says.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s two dogs – Guy and Pula – even crashed the video, with Steinem saying “they want to be on camera.”
