In an unexpected move, Meghan Markle has made an appearance on Ellen where she shared new details about her life before she met Prince Harry.
The 40-year-old royal’s interview, which is due to air Friday Australian time, sat down with the talk show host Ellen DeGeneres to discuss her previous acting career, recalling her early days of fame and the obscurity she had—as we all know, that’s now long gone.
The interview is one of a select few that Meghan has ever given directly after marrying Prince Harry in May 2018—and it’s certainly the first she’s done since her explosive one-on-one chat with Oprah Winfrey in February where she dropped several major bombshells about her experience in joining the age-old Royal Firm in the UK.
This time around, her chat with Ellen was a little more light hearted. As per a short preview shared by the host herself, Meghan discusses her previous experience at the Warner Bros. lot in California (the same place Ellen is filmed) which she frequented for film and television auditions pre-Prince Harry meet cute.
“I would park at Gate 3, and then I would scoot on over. And what was so nice was that the security guards here would always say, ‘Break a leg! We hope you get it!’ So driving in today was very different,” she tells the host.
In the interview, Meghan also talks about her old car, a Ford Explorer Sport, which was a far cry from the fancy chauffeur-driven vehicles she now travels in.
“I would park in the back of the parking lot and open the trunk, then climb in and pull it shut behind me and crawl over all my seats to get out,” she laughed to the host.
Of course, the teased snippets won’t be the only revelations the Duchess of Sussex shares on the show.
For the interview, Meghan looked chic as ever wearing a white shirt with billowing sleeve details with a pair of black trousers. She wore her hair in loose waves.
The new interview comes a week after the Duchess and husband Prince Harry attended the 2021 Salute to Freedom Gala in New York City where they walked the red carpet together.
Wearing a bright red dress with a radiant smile, there’s no denying Meghan is much happier after stepping back from her role as a senior royal family member alongside Prince Harry in 2020.
The pair now live in a sprawling Santa Barbara mansion (funnily enough, DeGeneres is their next door neighbour) where they’re raising their two kids, Archie, three, and Lilibet, five months, away from the constant gaze of paparazzi.
We have no doubt Meghan’s interview on Ellen will provide some extra insights into their post-royal lives—thankfully, it looks a heck of a lot more liberated and peaceful than it was for them two years ago.
