Who are Evelyn Ellis and Rupert Bugden?
Evelyn’s rocky romantic history (her ex applied for a dating show while they were still together) left her guarded in love. She says this is compounded by her Chinese-Australian upbringing, and being a child of divorce, both of which have left her struggling to show affection.
Rupert, on the other hand, is described as a “cheeky larrikin tradie” who can chat to anyone. But fans of the show might be questioning the accuracy of this description, after Rupert’s portrayal as a super shy groom so-far this season.

The Wedding
Rupert was lost for words when his model bride, who hails from New South Wales, made her way down the aisle.
The endearingly awkward interaction saw Rupert, an electrician from Queensland, nervously struggle to greet Evelyn, only managing to say, “You’re very beautiful.”
Things went from bad to worse as Rupert got so nervous that he dropped the pair’s wedding rings. “He had one job!” Evelyn told the cameras.
Rupert later admitted he was intimidated by Evelyn’s beauty, confessing, “I was a bit nervous because she’s obviously gorgeous.”
But for Evelyn, the feelings weren’t as obvious, and she revealed, “It was not love at first sight.”
The Honeymoon
During their honeymoon, the new couple took an intimate bath together in an attempt to break the ice.
Evelyn prepped for the romantic moment by scattering rose petals and donning a white bikini, telling the cameras, “I’m happy taking the lead for now. I’m just trying to build his confidence.”
But things didn’t go quite to plan when Rupert joined her in the tub. The groom was visibly uncomfortable with the temperature of the water, telling Evelyn, “Wow, this is getting rather hot,” before exiting mid-date.
Are Evelyn And Rupert Still Together?
While the final commitment ceremony is yet to air, recent snaps of Evelyn and Rupert suggest that their unlikely romance is going strong.
In the images obtained by the Daily Mail, the cute couple was seen walking Evelyn’s dachshunds through the Eastern Sydney suburb of Paddington, before sitting down for brunch.
These images come shortly after a video shared by Evelyn’s friend to TikTok sent fans into a frenzy. In the video, Evelyn can be seen ‘partying’ with castmates Duncan, Hugo, and Harrison, even pouring champagne into Duncan and Harrison’s mouths.
Fans were quick to notice that Rupert (and the men’s partners) was absent from the video, begging the question, was this just an innocent get-together? Or a sign that there is trouble in MAFS paradise?
