Is there anything Our Margot can’t do? She can carry a huge blockbuster, shine in smaller, gritty dramas, ham it up on the red carpet, friend zone a Prince (sorry, Harry) and become fashion’s new favourite ingénue.
Today, Robbie just added ‘Hollywood Mogul’ to her impressive CV, signing a first-look deal with Warner Bros, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
The deal, which means that her production company LuckyChap Entertainment – co-created with her boyfriend Tom Ackerley and BFFs Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara – will show their work to Warner Bros first, and the massive studio will get first right of refusal on all of their projects.
That includes the already-wrapped organised crime thriller Terminal, starring Robbie, Simon Pegg and Matthew Lewis. It also includes the forthcoming Tonya Harding biopic (also starring Robbie).
But it also means that Robbie is now very closely aligned with Warner Bros, who produced three of her biggest credits to date: Suicide Squad, Focus and The Legend Of Tarzan.
Robbie will star in two projects for Warner Bros. not produced by her company in the near future, the as-yet untitled Harley Quinn spin-off, and period romance Queen of the Air, about a trapeze artist and her tempestuous courtship with a fellow circus performer.
Reese Witherspoon better watch out. It looks like Robbie, at just 26 years old, might have the makings of Hollywood’s next big power player.
