Margaret Qualley And Her Mum, Andie MacDowell Will Co-Star In Netflix’s ‘Maid’

It's the first time the mother/daughter duo have appeared onscreen together.

When it comes to famous mother/daughter duos, Margaret Qualley and Andie MacDowell are among our favourites. Given their individual successes, it’s hard to believe the pair haven’t yet appeared onscreen together. Now, though, courtesy of a anticipated Netflix series, that’s all about to change.

Yesterday, the trailer for Maid dropped, and it was everything we’d hoped it would be (and then some). In the series, Qualley plays a single mum named Alex, while MacDowell plays her eccentric mother, Paula.

The synposis reads:

“After fleeing an abusive relationship, a young mother (Qualley) finds a job cleaning houses as she fights to provide for her child and build them a better future.”

Working long hours cleaning houses for minimum wage, it’s a heartbreaking yet uplifting story of resilience against all odds.

The limited series is based on the best-selling memoir, Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive by Stephanie Land. The executive producer is none other than Australia’s Margot Robbie, whose production company brought us the incredible film, Promising Young Woman.

Maid will also star Nick Robinson, Anika Noni Rose, Tracy Vilar and Billy Burke. It will span ten episodes and is airing on Netflix on October 1st.
