Fun fact about Mandy Moore, she loves to hike. Back in 2019, the actress successfully completed her trek into Mount Everest’s Base Camp, which sits 17,600 feet above sea level. It’s no easy feat, and it seems she’s showing no signs of slowing down, despite giving birth to her first child in February.
Moore’s latest expedition was a hike up Washington’s Mount Baker, also known as Koma Kulshan. Mt. Baker is a 10,781 ft active glacier-covered active volcano, so it’s certainly no walk in the park.
“We made it. On the summit at 6:30 this am,” she captioned a photo of herself giving a proud thumbs up on the mountain’s peak. “More to come. Never been this tired. And I have an infant.”
Along with the usual things you’d expect to pack on a hike like a helmet and backpack, there was one other piece of equipment Moore brought along – her breast pump.
“New realities of adventuring,” she captioned another photo using her breast pump on the trail. Despite the extreme exhaustion, Moore said she’s “happy to be back at it.”
Moore welcomed her first child, a baby boy named August with her husband Taylor Goldsmith back in February this year.
“Gus is here,” she wrote in an Instagram post announcing the birth. “He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined.”
Moore explained in a follow-up post that the name August signifies the month she and Goldsmith, who was born in August, “found out we were having a boy.”
“We always loved the name… so it was settled very early on in our book,” she said.
Mandy’s love for August is undeniable, and her dedication to the breast pumping game is second to none. Honestly, Mandy is kicking mother and mountaineering goals all at once. We salute her.
