Tens of thousands of people have signed a petition demanding answers over the death of a young woman who was found naked and bloody on a NSW beach.
In January 2011, an ambulance was called to Ten Mile Beach in Northern NSW, after two men reported that the woman they were with was unconscious after a night of drinking.
When ambulance officers arrived, they discovered 33-year-old Lynette Daley, a mother of seven, bruised, naked and bloodied. She had been dead “for some time”.
An autopsy would later discover that Daley had died from blunt force trauma to her genital tract, and had horrific internal and external injuries.
The two men – two men – Paul Maris and Adrian Atwater – claimed they had had consensual sex with Daley.
However, experts say that Daley’s blood alcohol level was so high that she would not have been able to consent to sex. She may not have been conscious.
The case has found its way into the spotlight thanks to the ABC’s Four Corners program which last night interviewed Daley’s family, who are incredulous that no action has been taken against the men.
A Change.org petition has been launched asking the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions to justify why the men have not been prosecuted.
We’ve signed. Will you?
