Lea Michele penned a heartbreaking tribute to her late boyfriend Corey Monteith to mark three years since his tragic passing.
“I know everyday you’re watching over me, and smiling,” Michele, 29, who was dating her Glee co-star Monteith at the time of his death, wrote on Twitter. “Love and miss you Cory, everyday, but today a little more…”
July 13 marked three years since the 31-year-old actor was found dead at a hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. He died of a heroin and alcohol overdose following a brief stint in rehab a few months prior.
Fans and celebrity friends of the actor also took to social media to celebrate his life.
“The time may pass but the warmth of your generous soul and the humility in your goofball nature will never fade,” Glee co-star Jenna Ushkowitz wrote alongside a throwback photo on Instagram. “You are and always will be our quarterback. We miss you, friend. #3yearswithoutcory.”
Another Glee star, Naya Rivera, also tweeted: “Always missed and never forgotten #3yearswithoutcory.”
Michele, who had a tiny number “5” tattooed on her ribcage to honour Monteith’s character Finn’s number 5 football jersey, has marked the anniversary each year, writing on Twitter last year: “Today we remember the laughter and joy you brought into our lives every day. We think of you always and love you so.”
