With the cold months officially upon us, there’s no better time to start jam-packing your viewing schedule with the hotly anticipated releases of 2021. Among them includes not one, but two Knives Out sequels, a follow up to the 2019 whodunnit starring Ana de Armas, Toni Collette, Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Jamie Lee Curtis (and many others).
Netflix is offering up more Chris Evans in chunky knits (perfect winter watching), as original writer and director Rian Johnson returns to helm the project, with Craig also set to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc.
The original film followed the mysterious circumstances around the death of crime novelist Harlan Thrombey, with renowned detective Benoit Blanc on the case—who soon discovers the wildly dysfunctional Thrombey family, where everybody is a suspect. Sifting through a web of lies and red herrings, Craig’s character works to uncover the truth alongside Armas’ Marta, the novelists’ nurse.
The film was sparked by Johnson’s love of Agatha Christie novels, according to People, who set out to write his own mystery thriller, which secured the writer and Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
We don’t know much else about the project yet, but we do know that so many famous faces have signed on to appear. Read on to see which actors have joined the Knives Out sequel.
Meet The Knives Out 2 Cast
Here, every actor we know has joined the hefty Knives Out 2 cast.
Daniel Craig
Actor Daniel Craig has signed on to reprise his role as detective Benoit Blanc, presumably cracking yet another mysterious case, taking his southern accent to Greece this time around, according to Screen Rant.
Leslie Odom Jr.
The Hollywood Reporter announced that Leslie Odom Jr would be joining the cast of Knives Out 2. The news comes after Odom Jr.’s two Oscar nominations for Best Original Song and Best Supporting Actor for Regina King’s One Night in Miami. The actor is also among one of the notable original cast members of Lin Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton, playing the part of Aaron Burr.
Janelle Monáe
Singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe is among the upcoming cast of Knives Out 2, joining the film following her acting roles in Hidden Figures and Moonlight.
Kate Hudson
After a four-year acting hiatus, Hudson returned to work in the Sia-directed film Music and is also among the Knives Out 2 cast. No word yet on how the actress will be involved.
Kathryn Hahn
Taking a step away from her usual comedic roles in Step Brothers and Bad Moms, Hahn has been showing off her impressive acting skills in WandaVision and I Know This Much Is True. It’s unknown yet if Hahn will continue delving into more dramatic roles, or provide her beloved comic relief to her Knives Out 2 character.
Dave Bautista
Former WWE star turned rather celebrated, ‘serious’ actor Dave Bautista has joined the cast of Knives Out 2. The American actor has appeared in fun, ensemble romps before, including Guardians of the Galaxy and Army of the Dead. Bautista and Craig have also appeared onscreen together prior to the Knives Out sequel, in the 2015 James Bond film Spectre.
Edward Norton
The Golden Globe and Academy Award-nominated actor Edward Norton will appear in the Knives Out sequel, though details about what type of character he’ll play are currently light on the ground. Norton is likely best known for his roles in Fight Club and American History X, though fans will have caught him more recently in a number of films by director Wes Anderson.
Madelyn Cline
Given the sheer volume of actors in the Knives Out 2 cast, it was only a matter of time before its gravitational pull sucked in a young Netflix star. Joining Knives Out 2 as the film’s official Gen Z representation is Madelyn Cline, who you might recognise from Netflix’s young adult series Outer Banks.
