If there was ever any doubt that Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, can do it all, it has been alleviated after seeing the Royal absolutely smash a spin cycle class. And in a skirt and heels, no less.
In a royal effort to promote physical and mental health, the Prince and Princess of Wales paid a visit to the Aberavon Leisure & Fitness Centre in Port Talbot in South Wales, where the pair ended up in a spin bike race.
Neither were really dressed for the occasion, although arguably William’s tailored suit and tie was a more comfortable cycle than Kate’s fashionable houndstooth maxi skirt and heeled boots, but it didn’t stop the Wales’ from giving the class a red hot go.
The Princess of Wales (previously Duchess of Cambridge) has been loving monochrome dressing, having recently also reworn a black-and-white Alexander McQueen dress to the 2023 BAFTAs red carpet.
In Wales, Kate looked excited to put the peddle to the metal against her husband, mounting the bike and going for gold. She ended the race with a smile, coming out on top with the fastest time, despite the limits of her outfit.
She was so confident that she even adjusted the bike’s pressure halfway through. “Can I make it harder?” she asked, while adjusting the little dial to increase resistance. The mum to three children, George (9), Charlotte (7) and Louis (4) was not keen to slow down.
While it wasn’t exactly a long race—45 seconds to be exact—it was just one example of how the future king and queen have embraced wellness in their approach to the crown.
In fact, they’re a bit of a sporting family, with Kate being a patron of English Rugby. Prior to the spin bike race, Kate and Wills turned out to watch a rugby match in Cardiff, Wales, with him gunning for the Welsh and Kate for the English. They’ve had their fair share of friendly rivalry of late.
“It’s going to be a very tense journey home,” William told the BBC. “If we win today my wife won’t speak to me. It will be a tense evening.” Naturally, Kate’s team won the match.
