They might have some seriously strict royal protocol they have to adhere to, but there’s nothing we love more than realising The Duke and Duchess are really like any young couple in love.
During a visit to the Chelsea Flower Show Kate let slip her rather un-royal nickname for her handsome hubby, when she was overheard calling him “babe”.
“I got to meet Prince Will and Prince Harry,” Garden designer Charlie Albone told Channel 9’s ‘Today Show. “Prince William was quite funny actually. He came up and said, ‘What [flower] is this one?’ and I replied, ‘That’s a Buxus’”.
To which Albone says the Duchess “turned to him and said, ‘Babe, we’ve got those. We’ve got loads of those.'”
Whilst admiring another garden display, the 5,000 Poppies project—which is actually an incredible display of 300,000 knitted flowers—Prince William was reportedly overheard asking Kate if she could make one, and used a nickname of his own in the process.
“William asked Kate, ‘Could you make one of these, darling?'” designer Margaret Knight revealed.
There you have it, babe and darling. Oh you two!
