A Video Of Kamala Harris Telling Her Great-Niece She “Could Be President” Is Warming Hearts Everywhere

"You could be president"

While we wait for the results of the nail-biting 2020 U.S. Presidential Election to be announced, we could all do with a dose of positivity—in addition to the history-making women in this year’s race to the White House.

Lucky for us, Vice Presidential nominee Kamala Harris has shown us what the future of politics could look like with the Democratic Party in charge, thanks to a heart-warming moment with her great-niece, Amara.

Posted to her Twitter, Harris’ niece, Meena, shared a video of an exchange between Harris and her daughter that’s taken the internet by storm.

“I know I’m going to be president,” Amara told Harris in the video. Harris can be seen telling her 4-year-old great-niece, “You could be president,” before adding, “You could be president, but not right now. You have to be over the age of 35.”

Meena Harris also wrote on her Instagram that the “conversation went on for like an hour,” and added on Twitter that her daughter “wants to be both president and an astronaut.”

The video went viral as people were reminded of the significance of Harris potentially becoming the first female vice president, as well as the first Black and South Asian-American V.P., if she and presidential nominee Joe Biden win the election.

Earlier this week, Harris’ niece also shared images and a video of her daughters reuniting with their great-aunt who they hadn’t seen since 2019, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“They haven’t seen her in person since last year 🥺” she captioned the post, along with a carousel of photos that are sure to tear at the heartstrings.
