Created in 1993 by Chopard’s Co-President and Artistic Director, Caroline Scheufele, the Happy Sport watch embodies the essence of the phrase Joie de Vivre and has a free-spirited charm. With the diamonds enclosed in a barely-there gold capsule, but free to roam around the space of the watch face, it’s not your average timepiece.
In fact, they were christened “Happy Diamonds” by Scheufele’s mother, who exclaimed upon first seeing them: “These diamonds are happier when they are free.”
With this in mind, Julia Roberts is then the perfect person to front the upcoming Happy Diamonds campaign for Chopard. An iconic actress with more memorable movie roles to her name than we have time to recount them, she is the epitome of sunshine, with a megawatt smile that’s recognisable from a mile away.
To celebrate the new partnership, Scheufele has coordinated the creative collaboration of our dreams, bringing together the worlds of fashion, film and music in a short film that will no doubt infuse us all with a little bit of joy. It’s also set to be straight-up cinematic, thanks to the singular touch of French film ingénue Xavier Dolan, who served as producer and director.
Styled by Roberts’ long-time fashion collaborator, Elizabeth Stewart, and set to a soundtrack of Paloma Faith’s Upside Down, Chopard has said the the film is a culmination of Scheufele’s background as a trained dancer, her love of cinema and vision as an Artistic Director.
The Happy Diamonds campaign is set to launch on April 21, with images shot by Shayne Laverdière. For more info, visit https://chopard.co/happydiamonds-teaser-intl.
