Whether you’re chalking it up to Mercury Retrograde or simply something in the Hollywood waters, it appears Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are officially rekindling their romance. Or at the very least, based on the recent photos of the ex-partners kissing, having a very romantic time in each other’s company.
Lopez and Affleck were seen kissing at a dinner at Nobu, a popular celebrity spot in Los Angeles, in photos taken over the weekend.
“J.Lo and Ben went to Nobu Malibu Sunday night to celebrate Jen’s sister, Lynda Lopez’s, birthday,” a source told ET. “They had a great time at the dinner celebration.”
Per ET, the couple were actually quite comfortable indulging in the public display of affection surrounded by Lopez’s family. Other guests at the dinner included Lopez’s 13-year-old twins, Emme and Maximilian, from her past marriage to Marc Anthony.
“Everyone feels really comfortable around Ben and likes him a lot,” the source said. “They don’t have one bad thing to say about him. They think he’s funny and sweet and it’s so nice for all of them to see Jen so happy and smitten. Ben definitely has their stamp of approval.”
Needless to say, this successful recoupling has attracted plenty of commentary on social media. Below, a couple of the best Tweets comparing the 2021 Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck kissing photos with the iconic picture of the pair from 2002.
For those whose memory has faded, Lopez and Affleck were one of the original Hollywood power couples. In the 17 years since they ended their engagement after a whirlwind romance, it appears each star has matured and they’re trying a different tack this time.
“J.Lo and Ben have always had a natural attraction towards one another, from the very first day that they met,” the source told ET. “Though they have been through their own breakup before, they also always knew that when they separated, their personal lives were bound to intertwine again in the future due to their careers.”
As for how specifically the couple is approaching their romance round two? “Since they have reconnected, what’s made their relationship work is not putting pressure on it and just living in the moment and enjoying each other’s company,” said the source.
“They just want to be genuinely happy together in life.”
