A few weeks ago, a Friends fan theory went viral after a Twitter user pointed out 100 reasons why Rachel should’ve ended up with Joey, instead of Ross.
In a long thread, titled ‘In defense of Rachel and Joey’, Claire Willett pointed out some seriously good facts.
Firstly, she noted that Joey and Rachel had years of friendship behind them before they started a romantic relationship, whereas Ross never saw Rachel as anything other than a romantic interest.
She also says that Ross was more concerned about being the kind of guy his hot high school crush Rachel would go for, than actually being with her.
While we’ll admit it had us second guessing Ross’ intentions for a bit, thankfully, Jennifer Aniston has now weighed in – and if anyone would know who Rach belonged with, it’s her.
“No! No, no,” she said in a recent interview. “They tried! I think there was a moment when Joey and Rachel got together that maybe it could happened, but it didn’t.”
“It was Ross and Rachel all the way,” she continued.
“I really believe that if there’s an afterworld of Friends, they’re still thriving,” she went on. “Don’t you? I just don’t think Joey and Rachel could have made it. I think it was more physical than emotional with them. They were friends with benefits, and they left it at that.”
