The trailer for Hannah Gadsby’s latest Netflix stand-up special has finally been released.
Hannah Gadsby: Something Special is the comedian’s third stand-up set to be released on Netflix, following their previous works, Nanette (2018) and Douglas (2020).
Based on Gadsby’s most recent live stand-up show, Body Of Work, the special has been pegged as “their first feel-good romantic comedy show” and will see Gadsby take on the subject of proposals, weddings (their own), queer domesticity, homophobic bakers and a traumatic bunny encounter.
The special is also the first release in Gadsby’s new multi-title deal with Netflix, which is set to span a multi-comic special featuring a range of gender diverse performers.
Gadsby’s first hit stand-up show, Nanette, saw the Tasmanian-born comedian achieve international success, and was subsequently turned into an award-winning Netflix special. Gadsby returned to the stage with Douglas, a stand-up named after a pet dog, which was also given Netflix treatment in 2020.
Like Nanette, Something Special was filmed at Sydney Opera House, while Douglas was filmed at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
