The actress undoes sentimental comments with risque photoshoot

Another week, another case of Gwyneth Paltrow being Gwyneth Paltrow.

In her unique way of being simultaneously endearing and annoying, Paltrow has given a candid and heartfelt interview about her late father to a U.S magazine.

The actress and Goop founder opened up to the magazine about how her father Bruce Paltrow — who died in 2002 – called her out for letting fame get to her head following her Best Actress Academy Award win for the 1998 hit film Shakespeare in Love. By her own admission, it was a time in her life when Paltrow says she was “very much believing my own hype.”

‘I was sitting with my dad, feeling great about my life and everything that was happening, and he was like, ‘You know, you’re getting a little weird…You’re kind of an a**hole.’ And I was like, ‘What the hell?”’ Paltrow said.

‘I was totally devastated. But it turned out to be basically the best thing that ever happened to me,’ she added.  ‘What my dad said to me was the kind of criticism where I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I’m on the wrong track.’ I’m so grateful to him for doing that.’

It’s an emotional anecdote, yet the sentiment has been somewhat eroded by the fact that the article is accompanied by a series of shots of Paltrow doing the grocery shopping in swimwear — provoking the stares of other shoppers who may just be thinking that she’s a little bit of an, err, a-hole.

Nevertheless, if you looked like that, wouldn’t you be doing the supermarket shopping in your underwear too?
