At Just Four-Years-Old, Princess Charlotte Is Already A Gucci Muse

Peter Pan collars, knee-high socks and hair ribbons reigned the runway

It seems Princess Charlotte is following in her mother’s sartorial footsteps, as the four-year-old is the latest member of the royal family to have inspired a major fashion house.

Yesterday, creative director Alessandro Michele marked five years at the helm by closing Milan Men’s Fashion Week with a reflective collection inspired by childhood.

Under the rather apt title ‘Rave Like You Are Five’, models plodded down the runway buttoned up in preppy peter pan-collared coats.

In the accessories department, Mary Janes were buckled over knee-high school socks with badge-strewn satchels and lunchbox bags to hand.

Although it is unlikely that Michele drew inspiration from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s daughter, there is no denying the parallels between her regal wardrobe and his latest line of wears.

The prim and proper Gucci outerwear looked particularly similar to the bottle green Amaia coat Princess Charlotte kept warm in on Christmas Day.

Other regal reference points included a floral smock dress which bore resemblance to the The White Company design Princess Charlotte was spotted wearing at the Maserati Royal Charity Polo Trophy match in June 2018.

Further playing on the Kensington Palace resident’s headline-worth style, models’ bowl cut hairstyles were fastened with satin bows Her Royal Highness would sure approve of.

Though it seems Princess Charlotte wasn’t the only member of The Firm to play muse to the collection, as a powder blue coat also took to the runway with nothing but sports socks and sliders to complete the look.

Elsewhere on the runway, Michele’s boundary-pushing line dominated fashion columns courtesy of gender-neutral babydoll dresses, berets and cropped knits.

As per every season, the show drew a starry guest list with the likes of Jared Leto, Tyler, the Creator and Mark Ronson bagging front row seats.
