This week Candice Warner opened up about suffering a devastating miscarriage in the wake of her husband David Warner’s cricket ball-tampering scandal.
“I’d have to be bullet-proof for the taunting not to have affected me,” she told Woman’s Day in an exclusive interview.
Now, TODAY Host Georgie Gardner has joined the heartbreaking conversation and revealed she has experienced multiple miscarriages.
Gardner recounted how peoples’ responses to the news of her miscarriages were yet another blow at the time.
“One of the things I came across was people immediately asking, ‘how far were you?’, ‘what week were you?’, as if to suggest that if it’s in the first trimester or it’s not far into the second trimester it’s almost not even a baby,” the mother-of-two said.
“I found that incredibly offensive.”
She continued: “People mean well, but they just don’t know how to tackle it.
“I was very vocal, but I found that quite a lot of people were uncomfortable with that.”
The breakfast television host said she desperately looked for “answers” following her loss.
“I wanted reasons, I wanted answers, I wanted to know why. I actually had a traumatic experience before I miscarried my first and immediately made that association,” she said before adding that “medical advice is that there is no correlation”.
Throwing to Syvia Jeffreys, Gardner explained: “I’m so glad we’ve discussed this today, I personally feel it’s a very important topic to address. We’re a little emotional over here.”
