Jon Snow And Daenerys Targaryen Aren’t Getting Together

And I have the half-baked theory to prove it

Calm down, guys. I KNOW we’ve been waiting since season three of Game of Thrones to see Kit Harrington’s naked butt again. I get that he and Dany make some kind of weird sense, with the symbolic fire and ice and whatever. I can see how he’s the only dude to even slightly measure up to the magnificence of Khal Drogo (RIP moon of my life).

Yeah, yeah, I noticed those smouldering moments and that lingering eye contact between the two hottest characters, too.

And yep, I caught Daenerys considering Jon as a stepfather to her babies when he gave that dragon a very satisfying scratch instead of turning around and jumping off the cliff.

But DO NOT GET SUCKED IN. It’s not going to happen. It’s just another red herring from those sneaky bastards behind GoT to get us all worked up and ranting about dragons and butts. Ahem.

I’m far from a GoT expert, but I know my forbidden-love, Flowers in the Attic oeuvre. And here’s why my money’s on this just being a big old tease.

Okay, so: You probably already know, but Jon is Daenerys nephew, not Ned Stark’s bastard like most people (including the man himself) believe. He’s actually the legitimate son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark, and Rhaegar is Dany’s brother. Heyyyy Aunt Dany!

Not that incest has ever stopped anyone in GoT – hello Cersei and Jaime. And yep, the Targaryens have long been into that shit, too. But that’s the thing: it’s just so season one. I just can’t believe the masters of surprise behind the show would slack off and revisit a theme that’s been going on for literally years.

No, what we have here is something stolen directly from the Star Wars playbook: the Luke and Leia plot twist. You know, how Luke and Leia were having feelings for each other, but then discovered they were siblings? That. It made for some sizzling moments, not to mention the increds love triangle between Luke, Han and Leia. Who wouldn’t want to recreate that fun?

Which brings me to Ser Jorah, the old but worthy recipient of Daenerys’ love. I’d say, when that grayscale scabs have healed, that the noble older gentleman is still in with a chance with the Mother of Dragons. Call it the Sense and Sensibility effect. Even Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys, thinks so: “The thing about Ser Jorah is that he has been the one from the very beginning. I think he has an ability to see right through her.”

See what I’m saying?
