It’s no secret that the world is *desperate* for a Friends reunion show. Even the OG stars themselves have voiced their desire to make it happen. But there’s just one thing getting in the way: Money. HBO and the cast just can’t seem to reach an agreement.

BUT, that could all have changed with new reports from Deadline claiming that the highly-anticipated reunion special is *this* close to signing a deal, with the entire cast set to return. Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry are all reportedly on board and have reached a deal with series’ producer Warner Bros. TV to create an hourlong special.
“There is interest all around and yet we can’t get the interests all alighted to push the button on it,” HBO Max’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Reilly said about the reunion special earlier this year. “Today it’s just maybe.”
It’s not just the cast who are interested in the reunion special; the show clearly still has a massive fan base. When Jennifer Aniston posted her first-ever Instagram photo – a selfie of herself with Friends co-stars Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer – she literally broke Instagram. She also set a new Guinness World Record for the fastest time to reach one million followers.
“I would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is,” Jen revealed while on The Ellen DeGeneres Show last year. “So we’re just trying. We’re working on something.”
For now, we have everything crossed in the hope that a compromise can be reached.
