Former reality television star, Matthew Eric Goyder, who appeared on Farmer Wants A Wife in 2016, has been sentenced to two years in jail for the possession and distribution of images and videos of child sexual abuse, reports ABC News.
According to the publication, District Court Judge Karen Shepherd described the images as “vile” and of “the utmost depravity.”
Per news.com.au, Goyder was arrested in 2020 after chatting to an undercover police officer online and sending two videos of young girls being sexually abused. The former reality contestant, who is a pilot, held the username PilbaraBoy90 and believed he was chatting to a 37-year-old woman at the time.
“The imagery and the material generally is of a very graphic and very disturbing nature,” Judge Shepherd said, via news.com.au. “It’s, simply put, vile. It demonstrates, in my view, a high level of perversion and debauchery. It’s degrading.”
In a letter to the court, Goyder said he took full responsibility for his actions and that he was “totally appalled and deeply ashamed.”
The court also heard that Goyder had suffered from mental health issues and suffered a hypoxic brain injury in 2019, which his lawyers claim had affected his thinking and made him “disinhibited”.
Goyder will be eligible for parole once half his sentence is served, with the earliest possible release date in May 2022.
