More inclusive wedding ceremonies
Couples are eschewing tradition in recent years to throw more inclusive ceremonies with gender roles finally blurring in order for more loved ones to take part in the big day.
In the last six months alone, there has been a 171% increase in search for ‘bridesman’ items in comparison to last year while frantic Googles for ‘best woman’ accessories are also up by 72%.
Even the family dog is no longer forgotten when it comes to tying the knot, as an increasing number of couples are dressing their pup in formal attire for the ceremony.
Bridal suits in favour of the traditional dress
Brides no longer have to say “I do” in froth-upon-froth of tulle with chic co-ords beginning to overtake wedding dresses in the grand run-up to the aisle.
In the last six months, there has been a 24% increase in search for bridal jackets with women’s suits also experiencing a 4% rise in popularity.
Even brides-to-be who still wish to wear a sweeping gown are choosing to don a suit for the rehearsal dinner or to dance the night away after a day at the chapel.
Vintage wedding rings
An increasing number of couples are bidding farewell to wedding ring shopping as we know it with a 20% increase in search for vintage jewellery.
Driven by both a desire to be more environmentally conscious on the big day to a longing to source something nobody else will have, the growing trend is not entirely surprising.
Art Deco style rings are proving most popular at the moment with search for the 1920s era jewels rising by 5%.
Wellness wedding favours
No longer are wedding day attendees going home empty-handed with Etsy reporting a significant rise in wellness goody bags.
Sure to prove handy after a champagne-filled night, there has been an 11% increase in search for crystal favours while candles have undergone a 5% rise in popularity since last year.
Sustainable wedding details
In a bid to throw a more sustainable ceremony, soon-to-be newlyweds are becoming more mindful about the purchases they make in the run-up to the big day.
This means environmentally-friendly details from recycled metal cufflinks to vintage veils are on the rise this year.
In fact, search for reused, recycled and reclaimed wedding items have already increased by 7%.
