Emma Stern Neilsen doesn’t believe in diets. The Danish model, 25, doesn’t think too much about her fitness regime either – despite posing in a bikini on an almost-weekly basis.
“I try to stay healthy all the time,” she admits. “I shoot so much swim, so I don’t like to put myself in a position where I have to diet or have to do a crazy workout before a shoot.”
“I don’t go to the gym at 5am every morning – and I would never starve myself. I don’t think it’s worth it. You have to feel good in your own body to look good in a picture,” she adds.
To feel good in her body, Stern focuses on her “inner energy” and prefers to go for a run than take a Spin class in New York, where she is now based.
If you think the Brigitte-Bardot-esque beauty couldn’t get anymore down-to-earth, then you should ask her about her beauty routine…
“It’s easy for me to say ‘just keep it natural,’ but I think beauty comes from the inside. Of course I take care of my skin and hair, but I also use a $6 Carmex lip balm,” she says.
It’s this “natural beauty” that Stern says landed her a coveted Seafolly swimwear campaign, which was shot on location at Rainbow Beach near Noosa in Queensland.
While natural beauty helps, Stern says the most important thing when it comes to a swimwear shoot is a well-fitting bikini. “The Seafolly collection is very easy to wear. You feel secure,” she says. “We did a lot of underwater and active shots in the campaign, and the swimsuits fit very well. There’s nothing worse than having a bikini with so many weird straps that it falls off.”
She’s a fan of our bikinis and beaches, but Stern really fell for the Australian people. “It’s funny how you can go to the opposite side of the world and feel at home. Everyone here is so easy-going and down to earth,” says Stern, who is the epitome of easy-going. Can we adopt her already?
