Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss confirmed that Ed Sheeran will have a guest role on Game of Thrones, during the Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas on Sunday.

The show has been trying to get Sheeran to make an appearance for several seasons now, knowing that Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, is a huge fan.

“For years we were trying to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie and this year we finally did it,” Benioff said.

Sheeran will join the ranks of musicians who have been on the show like Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, Will Champion from Coldplay, Sigur Rós, and Mastodon.

But Weiss has commented that being a guest on the show isn’t as fun as it seems.

“A lot of [music artists] say they would they would like to [be on the show], and then we tell them [shooting a scene] is so boring,” Weiss said. “‘You’re gonna hate this — you’re going to be sitting around three days for 12 hours a day.’”

We don’t know when or how Ed will appear but will have our eyes constantly peeled throughout the season.

Here’s hoping he makes it out alive.
