Just a mere matter of days after announcing plans to step back as senior members of the royal family, Meghan Markle has already visited two local womenโ€™s charities.

First on the agenda: Downton Eastside Womenโ€™s Centre.

On Wednesday (January 15), the new mother met with workers and members of the charity organisation, which helps the homeless and mentally ill, to learn more about the issues they face.

The charity shared a photograph of the team alongside the Duchess of Sussex on Facebook which soon amassed over 1,000 shares.

โ€œLook who we had tea with today! The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, visited us today to discuss issues affecting women in the community,โ€ the caption reads.

In the image, Meghan is seen dressed down in jeans and a cable knit jumper by The Row โ€“ which she reportedly first wore during her time playing Rachel Zane in hit paralegal series Suits.

Showing no sign of slowing down, the 38-year-old then headed over to another organisation โ€“ feminist climate change group, Justice for Girls.

Thrilled by the royal drop-in, the charity shared a photograph of Meghan during a meeting with staff on Twitter.

โ€œYesterday, The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle visited to discuss climate justice for girls and the rights of Indigenous peoples,โ€ the tweet reads. โ€œWas great to talk about the importance of a holistic approach to social justice, and the power of young womenโ€™s leadership.โ€

Shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced plans to become โ€œfinancially independentโ€, the former Suits actress flew to Canada.

In response to the surprising news, Buckingham Palace released a statement on behalf of Her Majesty.

โ€œMy family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghanโ€™s desire to create a new life as a young family,โ€ the now-famous statement reads.

โ€œAlthough we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.โ€

Details of what the Duchess of Sussex will do next are scarce but she has reportedly signed a voiceover deal with Disney with profits benefitting wildlife charity, Elephants Without Borders.
