Dust off those thigh-high boots, slap on the sparkles and make sure you’re up to date with Season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race! Why? Because it has just been announced that the biggest stars from the iconic show, along with local and international drag artiste royalty, will be gracing Australian stages this August for our very first Drag Expo. And yes, Karen From Finance will be there.
The deliciously quick-witted and fabulously dressed ladies will be available for two days only at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre. Fans will be able to meet Australia’s drag legends and hear their inspiring stories, while also enjoying interactive panels, tutorials, chill-out spaces and plenty of Q&A sessions. Not to mention the Untucked Bar serving the city’s best cocktails.
The expo will be more than skin deep, though, with important mental health discussions running throughout the convention. In the words of the great RuPaul: “If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else?”
Visitors will learn the power that comes from being your real self (and, also, how to nail a winged eye).
Can I get an amen!
The Opening Gala will be held on August 7, kicking off two days of celebration, inspiration and a message to all visitors: “Don’t get bitter, just get better.”
