The newly appointed premiere shared an update to his official Facebook page last night to confirm the news with a photo taken next to the couple’s wall where they have six framed photos of their children—five girls and a boy.

Perrottet wrote: “Exciting family news. Our family photo wall is going to need another frame! Helen and I are thrilled to announce we have a little girl due next year.

He added: “With five sisters already, William is looking on the bright side – more bench depth on the family basketball team.”

Perrottet has been vocal about his strong family values. When he first became New South Wales’ premier at the beginning of October, he discussed balancing work with raising his children.

“Yes, I have family commitments, but that should not disqualify one from the job,” he explained.

“Ultimately, what I might lose in time, I gain in perspective,” he added.

Perrottet is also a devout Catholic, and he himself grew up with 12 siblings. He has previously commented on his religion saying it is, “Part of who I am and inspires me to make a difference wherever I go.”

The Premier, who stepped into the role following Gladys Berejiklian’s resignation has quickly turned heads with his gusto approach to ending lockdown.

When the state reached 70% vaccination (which was projected to be achieved in the timeframe set out before Perrottet became Premier), he loosened eased restrictions beyond the plans already confirmed by Berejiklian. He’s also made his intentions around a return to business-as-usual as soon as possible clear.

While Berejiklian had originally announced an intention for workers in the state to begin making a return to the office in December, Perrottet later announced the requirement to wear face masks inside offices would be axed at a much earlier date.
