The year was 1997 when the man-of-the-moment was in his Manchester United heyday while Victoria spent her days bopping about on stage under the name of Posh Spice.

During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, David revealed: “We [the football team] knew of them, obviously, because they were pretty big at the time and I was just establishing myself in the Manchester United team at the time.”
He added: “But we all had our favourite Spice Girl.”
Before you panic, the 44-year-old emphasised: “She [Victoria] was obviously my favourite, might be a bit awkward if she wasn’t.”
