It’s the greatest show on earth and everyone wants a piece of it. At least, that’s what is currently going down at New York City’s Queen’s tennis centre, where Serena Williams is currently competing in her last ever Grand Slam before she retires.
The 40-year-old athlete walked onto centre court at the US Open on August 31 to deafening applause—it marked the beginning of the end for the 23-time Grand Slam champion who announced she would retire from tennis at the end of the tournament.
“There comes a time in life when we have to decide to move in a different direction. That time is always hard when you love something so much. My goodness do I enjoy tennis. But now, the countdown has begun,” she shared with her fans at the start of August.
Now, that final moment has come—and what seems like every celebrity under the sun (understandably) wants to see it happen.
Of course, Williams’ player’s box is packed with her nearest and dearest, including her four-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia, her husband, Alexis Ohanian, her sister Venus Williams and her mother, Oracene Price. As for which game will be Williams’ last is anyone’s guess—though it goes without saying that if she reaches the grand final (and wins it, no less), well, that would be the ultimate serve.
Below, we pin-point all the (very animated) celebrities who are cheering Williams on from the sidelines at her last US Open.
