Update 14/10/20: Seven months after it was released, Gal Gadot has finally addressed the controversial video for the first time.
In a new interview with Vanity Fair on October 13, the Wonder Woman actress opened up about her decision to make the viral video.
“I started it,” she said before adding, “And I can only say that I meant to do something good and pure, and it didn’t transcend.”
She continued, “I started with a few friends, and then I spoke to Kristen [Wiig]. Kristen is like the mayor of Hollywood. Everyone loves her, and she brought a bunch of people to the game.”
“Sometimes, you know, you try and do a good deed and it’s just not the right good deed,” she said. “I had nothing but good intentions and it came from the best place, and I just wanted to send light and love to the world.”

Even celebrities are attempting to lift spirits, sharing videos and leading the charge to urge fans and followers to stay home and practise social distancing.

Gal Gadot is definitely doing her part, calling her celeb friends (including Natalie Portman, Amy Adams, Jimmy Fallon, Ashley Benson, Cara Delevingne, Jamie Dornan, Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig) to film themselves singing ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon.
“Day six in self-quarantine and I gotta say these past few days got me feeling philosophical,” Gadot says. “You know, this virus has affected the entire world, everyone. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, we’re all in this together.” She then mentions a video she saw of an Italian man playing ‘Imagine’ on his trumpet from his balcony to all the other people inside their homes, and how there was something “so powerful and pure” about it.

While the video is light-hearted and made with good intention, social media had mixed reactions to it. Many called on the rich and famous to use their money to donate to causes in need at the moment. “I’m somehow not terribly inspired by rich people singing ‘Imagine no possessions’ from their million-dollar mansions,” one person tweeted.
