For drug trafficking in Colombia

Cassie Sainsbury has been charged with six years inside a Colombian prison after being found with 6kgs of cocaine in her suitcase in April.

The 22-year-old Adelaide-born woman initially said the drugs found in her luggage were planted there without her knowledge, but since admitted to drug trafficking as part of a plea deal, ABC reports.

Sainsburyโ€™s sister told Channel 7 in Adelaide the plea deal was the best outcome Cassie and her family could have hoped for.

But Kahla Sainsbury said her sisterโ€™s life would never be the same again.

โ€œI donโ€™t think thereโ€™s be much she can do when she comes back home,โ€ she said as reported by The Australian.

Itโ€™s going to be hard for her to get a job. Itโ€™s going to be hard for her to do anything, because sheโ€™s going to be labelled as โ€˜Cocaine Cassieโ€™.โ€
