Cassie Sainsbury has been charged with six years inside a Colombian prison after being found with 6kgs of cocaine in her suitcase in April.
The 22-year-old Adelaide-born woman initially said the drugs found in her luggage were planted there without her knowledge, but since admitted to drug trafficking as part of a plea deal, ABC reports.
Sainsburyโs sister told Channel 7 in Adelaide the plea deal was the best outcome Cassie and her family could have hoped for.
But Kahla Sainsbury said her sisterโs life would never be the same again.
โI donโt think thereโs be much she can do when she comes back home,โ she said as reported by The Australian.
Itโs going to be hard for her to get a job. Itโs going to be hard for her to do anything, because sheโs going to be labelled as โCocaine Cassieโ.โ
