Very early into this season of The Bachelor, it was clear that Cass Wood was in love with had very strong feelings for Nick Cummins. And after not one, but two diary incidents, the nation started to wonder why the Honey Badger would string the besotted 23-year-old along if he (clearly) had no intention of ending up with her at the end.
But as the dust settles on the show’s shock finale, which left both finalists heartbroken in the biggest twist in Australian Bachie history, the pieces of the puzzle are slowly coming together.
Namely, that Nick seemingly had his reasons for keeping Cass all the way to hometowns: to put her in the best position to become the next bachelorette.
After a rocky first few episodes, Cass quickly won over fans with her honest personality, positive attitude and willingness to give anything a go. The Sydney-local was one of the most talked about contestants of the season and following the finale, has already amassed over 154k followers on Instagram.
“Overnight, the 23-year-old became Australia’s sweetheart, and Nick was hoping that would happen. He thinks she should be the next Bachelorette – and Ten agrees,” Woman’s Day reports.
Given The Bachelorette‘s pattern of casting previously heartbroken contestants as the stars of the show – hello, Ali Oetjen and Sam Frost – we’d say Cass is in with a good chance of gracing our screens again this time next year.
