Carrie Underwood has opened up in an emotional letter to fans. When Underwood fell on the steps outside her home in Nashville in mid-November her condition was first described as “non life-threatening injuries including a broken wrist and cuts and abrasions.”
Although, this heartbreaking post to her fan club reveals more than fans were aware, “there is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up. It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.”
She continued, “In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told Mike [her husband] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.”
“I’m still healing and not quite looking the same. I honestly don’t know how things are going to end up.” Since the accident more than 8 weeks ago Underwood hasn’t posted any images of her face – just this photo of herself wrapped in a scarf.
She reassured fans that she is “determined to make 2018 amazing.” She wants her fans to “understand why [she] might look a bit different” when she does get back in front of the camera. “I’m hoping by then the differences are minimal, but, again, I just don’t know how it’s all going to end up,” she wrote.
