Legendary actress Carrie Fisher has died after suffering a heart attack. She was 60.
The actress was best known as her iconic role of Princess Leia in the Star Wars franchise but she was also an author scripwtriter.
Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd confirming the sad news.
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Fisher had been on a flight from London to Los Angeles on Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest.
She was rushed off the flight by paramedics and taken to hospital in Los Angeles however days later she passed away in hospital.
Reynolds has since released a statement after her daughter’s tragic passing.
“Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter,” she wrote on Facebook.
“I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop. Love Carries Mother”.
