Who among us hasn’t rewatched Sex and the City for the one thousandth time and not pictured ourselves living in Carrie Bradshaw’s fabulous (and iconic) NYC brownstone?
For the first time ever, fans will be able to rent the studio apartment on Airbnb, raiding Carrie’s enviable fashion closet and curling up with a Cosmo.
The one-off experience is in celebration of the highly anticipated revival, And Just Like That… which explores how Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) are navigating life in their 50s. (Sadly, Kim Cattrall won’t be returning to reprise the iconic Samantha Jones, but the doors are open for a potential season two appearance.)
SJP herself will host two, one-night stays at a recreation of the Upper East Side apartment, which comes with a styling session and the chance to play dress ups in Carrie’s closet – iconic tutu skirt included.
“The Carrie Bradshaw character is near and dear to my heart, and revisiting her world for the continuation of the Sex and the City story has been such a joy,” she said.
“I’m excited for our audience to experience Carrie’s New York like never before and walk in her shoes, quite literally, for the first time.“
Given we’re living in COVID-times, it’s unlikely any Aussies will be able to make it to NYC for this experience, but a gal can dream, right? I couldn’t help but wonder…
If you happen to be in the Big Apple on November 12 and 13, you can request to book the stay from November 8. It’ll set you back just USD $23 (roughly $30 AUD) per night, but the chance to get up close to a fashion closet curated by the one and only Patricia Field? Priceless.
And Just Like That… is expected to premiere this December, and the anticipation is next level.
“I think that Cynthia, Kristin], and I are all excited about the time that has passed,” SJP told Vanity Fair earlier this year. “You know, who are they in this world now? Have they adapted? What part have they played? Where have they fallen short as women, as friends, and how are they finding their way? Did they move with momentum? Are they like some people who are confused, threatened, nervous [by what’s happening in the world]? I’m so curious and excited to see how the writers imagine these women today.”
One thing we can’t stop thinking about? What’s going to happen with SJP and Big (Chris Noth). Rumours have been flying that the once-happy couple will be navigating some not-so-happy territory. Are they heading for divorce? Is Big even around? And why has SJP been pictured on-set kissing another man?
A bevy of familiar faces are returning, including Big’s ex Natasha (Bridget Moynahan), Carrie’s ex Aiden (John Corbett), and Miranda’s partner Steve (David Eigenberg).
Joining them are newcomers Sara Ramírez as a non-binary and queer stand-up comedian and podcast host; Nicole Ari Parker as a documentarian and Park Avenue mum; Sarita Choudhury as a Manhattan real estate broker; and Karen Pittman as a Columbia Law School professor.
One thing’s for certain: the stories might be new, but the fashion will be iconic.
