Britney Spears has finally responded to the news of her divorce from husband of 14 months, Sam Asghari.
The ‘Toxic’ singer opened up on Instagram, where she told fans she “couldn’t take the pain anymore.”
“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … six years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked,” Spears wrote alongside a video of herself dancing.
“I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business!!! But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly!!! In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you!!!”
Spears also said that she’s been “playing it strong for way too long.”
“My Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that. I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but for some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses.”
The pop star also told fans that she’s being “as strong as I can and do my best. And I’m actually doing pretty damn good. Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile.”
Asghari announced the pair were calling it quits on Instagram earlier this month.
“After six years of love and commitment to each other, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold onto the love and respect that we have for each other and I wish her the best always. Shit happens. Asking for privacy seems ridiculous so I will just ask everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful,” he shared on his Instagram page.
This bombshell news follows earlier rumours of trouble in paradise for the newlyweds. Sources have suggested that Asghari has rarely slept at their shared residence.
According to TMZ, sources have alleged that Asghari accused Spears of cheating last week. We do not know yet if there is any truth to this claim, but it’s said a huge argument ensued between the pair.
In January, a TMZ paparazzo did catch Asghari after a dinner that he was rumoured to have walked out on. He defended his marriage and said that there had simply been too many nosy onlookers in the restaurant due to Spears’ fame, and that he had gone to get the car to get them out of there.
While rumours that they’ve been on the rocks have circled for a while, the couple have weathered many storms together until now.
They actually met back in 2016, on the set of one of Spears’ ‘Slumber Party’ music video. Asghari stood by Spears during her conservatorship proceedings.
“I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves,” Asghari told PEOPLE last year.
“I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together.”
Asghari, 29, was born in Tehran, Iran, and is a fitness trainer and actor. The couple have shared countless photos working out together, holidaying together and looking cosy playing with various social media filters.
It appears that these two are no longer ‘Lucky’ in love.
