It's all thanks to the detective work of some eager-eyed fans.

Could a new Britney Spears album be on the horizon?

Fans seem to think so, after music producer Caleb Stone posted  then quickly deleted a cryptic post to Instagram.

The image showed Stone with well-known music producing duo Stargate, alongside the caption:

“Spent the last 9 months in the Siberian alps making beats for the new Britney Spears album w bros @stargate – big tings coming.”

Although Stone deleted the post soon after posting, a fan account was quick to capture a screenshot, reposting it to their own page and questioning whether this could be the sign of a comeback for Spears.

If the rumours are true and Spears is teaming up with the Stargate producers, we could be in for some amazing hits. The music duo, who hail from Norway originally, are behind tracks like Rihanna’s Don’t Stop The Music, Beyoncé’s Irreplaceable and Katy Perry’s Firework

Also adding fuel to the rumour flame was Benny Blanco, the producer Spears worked with on her 2008 hit single Circus.

Speaking to TMZ back in September 2022, Blanco revealed he had been in contact with Spears about working together again.

“I actually recently just reached out to try to start working on some stuff. Like a month ago,” he said. “I hope [to work with Britney] soon.”

When Did Britney Spears Last Release Music?

Spears released her latest and ninth album ‘Glory’ back in 2009.

Since then, she took a hiatus from creating music, amid her highly publicised 13-year conservatorship battle.

The conservatorship — which gave her father, Jamie Spears, complete control of her daily life and financial affairs — officially came to an end in 2021, with Spears returning to the music charts the following year to team up with Elton John on a remake of his classic hit, Tiny Dancer.

The updated track, titled Hold Me Closer, received worldwide acclaim.

So, could Britney be following this success and blessing our ears with even more new music? For now, fans will have to wait and see.
