Britney Spears kicked off the 2016 Billboard Music Awards with a bang when she took to the stage in a dazzling red ensemble at the Las Vegas T-Mobile Arena.
The 34-year-old superstar was back at her 2000s Britney best and took us on an epic trip down memory lane with a medley of her greatest hits including ‘I’m A Slave 4 U’, ‘Toxic’, ‘Womanizer’, ‘I Love Rock N’ Roll’ and and ‘Work Bitch’.
There to accept the Millennium award, Britney opened the show with her 2103 hit ‘Work Bitch’ dressed in a red Ring Master-style look, before she ripped that off to reveal an embellished two piece by wedding dress designer Mark Zunino.
Britney then ‘work’ed her way through the medley of other songs, and busted out some seriously impressive moves with her dancers, including a backflip mid-song and riding a giant guitar during ‘I love Rock ‘n’ Roll’.
Britney is only the third ever recipient of the Millennium award, following in the footsteps of Beyonce and Whitney Houston.
“This award & this night meant the world to me” Britney wrote on Instagram. “Thank you @BBMAS, my amazing crew, dancers & of course my fans”.
Fans couldn’t get enough of Britney’s performance, with many taking to Twitter to voice their excitement.
“The only thing “bad” about @britneyspears performance tonight was that it wasn’t long enough. #BBMAs,” wrote one fan.
“The amount of bravery Britney Spears has to go on stage in front of millions & slay after everything she’s overcome is inspiring,” wrote another.
“@britneyspears is everything right now #BillboardMusicAwards.”
