Blake Lively is deeply serious about protecting her children’s privacy. The former Gossip Girl actress shares three children with her husband, fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, and was photographed with them during an outing last week. When a tabloid published an image of the family, which included Lively’s daughters James, 6, Inez, 4, and Betty, 21 months without covering their faces, the actress took to the outlet’s comment section with some choice words.
“You edit [together] these images together to look like I’m happily waving. But that is deceitful,” the actress began her lengthy comment.
“The real story is: My children were being stalked by a man all day. Jumping out and then hiding. A stranger on the street got into words with them because it was so upsetting for her to see,” continued Lively.
The actress explained that when she “tried to calmly approach the photographer you hired to take these pictures in order to speak to him, he would run away. And jump out again at the next block.”
“Do you do background checks on the photographs [sic] you pay to stalk children? Where is your morality here? I would like to know. Or do you simply not care about the safety of children?”
Lively went on to explain that she did coordinate with the photographers to whom she was able to speak, “I was able to agree to smile and wave and let them take my picture away from my children.”
“Because it was frightening. Tell the whole story @dailymailau. At minimum, listen to your followers. They too understand this is dark and upsetting that you pay people to stalk children. Please some paying grown ass men to hide and hunt children,” said Lively, concluding her comment. “There are plenty of pictures you could’ve published without the kids. Please delete. C’mon. Get with the times.”
Lively’s awful sounding incident isn’t the only recent instance of a celebrity struggling with paparazzi not respecting their children’s privacy. Model Gigi Hadid also recently wrote an open letter requesting that paparazzi and fan-run social media accounts refrain from posting photographs that include her daughter’s face. Hadid’s first child is a nine-month-old called Khai, who she shares with partner Zayn Malik.
“For a child, I can imagine that close or dramatic paparazzi frenzies must be overwhelming and disorienting … it still is as an adult that understands and deals with it often,” the supermodel wrote. “I appreciate you taking the time to read this and hope you can understand where I’m coming from.”
